How I became a Husker fan. I grew up in Minnesota and being a Gopher fan we didn’t have much to look forward to on Saturdays unless it was Hockey season. I married a lady from Iowa and started hunting pheasant along the Iowa Nebraska border. We would ask the farmers if we could hunt their land and if it was a saturday they would always tell us to come back after the game. What game? The Husker game you idiot! Oh ok sorry. It started getting in the way of hunting and so doing a little research I found out about the Huskers…Not only did my love for the husker start but the love for college football began as well. The last great gopher team was 1961…I was 9 years old.
I have always been a college Hockey fan but never a college football fan. The people I have met have been nothing short of fantastic. They are the most respectful of any team fan base i have come across. My love for college football continues to grow each year. The love for the Huskers is more because of the great folk from Nebraska as much as it has to do with the teams success. I’m not a win, loss type person when it comes to football. I am more play the game how its suppose to be played and the Huskers have a long History of doing just that. It’s a honor to call myself a Husker fan and carry the badge with pride as the team carries the badge of tradition and the tradition is…the FANS that call themselves Husker fans.
“Not the victory but the action; Not the goal but the game; In the deed the glory. That should sum it up!
